Things got wild around here- but the dust has settled.
We woke up one morning to smoking electrical sockets and had little power for weeks. Thought the power loss was due to too much tree coverage over power lines, town came by and chopped down most of the side yard, exposed us to the street for sure. Then we lost one of our dear chickens to something, or someone on the full moon.
But all ended well-the loss of trees made for a sunny garden spot that we thought we wouldn't have. Our goat gave birth on the expected due date, to two sweet little kids. K graduated college and we had a radical show in her honor! The nearly split in two power line was fixed with a day to spare before the show, and Graves showed up to play to a full living room and a kitchen of home cooked food.
We were all pretty down in the dumps but this weekend gave us a much needed boost. Visits with friends, old and new, and working appliances got us all back in the swing of things. It was especially nice to share my space with Grant and Choop this weekend-catch up on their happenings. Grant's been super inspired and hard at work in his garden- and making the grade in school. The guys from Graves and their girls were a rockin' time-good stories and knowledge was passed around. Olive's been hanging around here when Matt and Kenzie need a break and we're always happy to have a sweet baby around. We're all stoked for spring to arrive and have all decided to stay and make the house a summertime hang out.
Today we started piling up the garden plot-hay manure leaves. were going to make the fence out of old bike wheels and glass bottles. I'm sure its going to be a project we will all appreciate and love-as it will be a huge food source for us. Wood for the tree house reconstruction is piling up and theres been talk of an earthship for the high side yard. Lots of one on one basketball going on around here as well.
next on the list: biodynamic farming work shop and vipassana retreat...
